Loving God, Serving Others

May 20, 2022
Still Chilly Greetings, God’s Frozen Chosen!
Yeah, I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of May, June knocking on the door, and it still feels like March (except for all that gorgeous green). I’m still wearing my winter coat on the dog walks. It’s gotta turn soon… right? Maybe the cold is reflecting the moral chill in our country. Another reminder to pray.
Deb & I get to go camping! We’ll be at Farragut for the next week, chilling (that is, relaxing, hopefully not literally). You’re in good hands. Rick is in da house, and he’s speaking this Sunday on a famous and good passage. If an emergency comes up, call any of the elders or Pastor Rick. I’ll be back in time for the 29th, continuing in our series in 1 John. It’s a strange passage: 1 John 2:12-14.  I think we’ll be able to make some application in spite of commentators not quite agreeing on what it means!
What’s Goin’ On…
TODAY! Women’s Luncheon at Tomato Street, noon.
TOMORROW you have two opportunities for service: help clean up the Chattaroy Cemetery or assist in hauling excess junk from the Steenhard place. Sounds like rakes, shovels and gloves are the tools.
Also tomorrow: There’s a conference at Tri-County Christian Center in Deer Park called “Responding Courageously to Our Culture’s Assault on Christianity.” It’s based on the book by Irwin Lutzer’s book, “We Will Not Be Silenced.” Dr. Lutzer will be available via Zoom to answer questions. $30 for adults, $20 for students, lunch included. Other presenters will be there. Register at www.tcccdp.org or call 276-5484.
Sunday Evening: Men’s Anchor Point, continuing in the video series by Max Lucado, Traveling Light. 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Cookies and coffee included.
And of course, Sunday Morning will be Gospel Sunday! Rick will preach.
See You Soon?

Pastor Rob
p.s. Prayer is still on for this week! Steve Combs leads on Monday, and Bill Hughes on Thursday. Keep on praying’ people…
